Yes Solar Solutions Announces Tesla Certification for Electric Vehicle Charging Installation
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cary, NC, June 24, 2022 — In May, Cary, N.C. company Yes Solar Solutions earned certification for installing Tesla EV charging stations. The certification is the result of Yes Solar’s relationship with Tesla, starting with Tesla Powerwall certification in 2017, Tesla solar panel installation, its deep experience and Tesla training for all technicians in Tesla EV charging. All electric vehicle charging installations are permitted and installed by Yes Solar’s licensed electricians.
This comes at an opportune time, with gas prices in NC inching up to $5.00 a gallon, and higher in some counties, and electric vehicles are seeing explosive growth. The Tesla Giga Shanghai plant in China, which produced about half of Tesla’s million cars produced in 2021, is expected to ship 71,000 cars in June. Tesla has consistently inspired consumer interest with a range of models, Model S, Model 3, Model X and Model Y. Shopping and ordering online is easy and accessible, for both pre-owned and new models.
In 2019, electric vehicles represented 2.5% of all cars sold, in two short years, that slice was 9% in 2021, despite pandemic and supply chain issues. More than a dozen new car and battery plants are planned in just the United States as manufacturers navigate what is the biggest disruption in transportation since Henry Ford’s Model T. The industry is geared up to invest half a trillion dollars in the next five years to make the transition.
And virtually all auto manufacturers are releasing new EV models, including Ford’s F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E and the e-Transit work van. The battery in the Ford F-150 Lightning can power a home for three days in the event of a power outage. All the luxury brands, including Mercedes, Porsche and Jaguar have electric models. The Tesla Model 3 and Jaguar XF P250 sedans retail for around $46,000. But owning the Tesla for five years costs $16,000 less, according to calculations by Kelley Blue Book, a vehicle valuation company. And there are federal tax credits for buying an electric vehicle of up to $7,500.
As prices become more affordable for electric vehicles, and gas becomes less a solution, charging stations are critical to the growth. Currently, there are 50,000 charging stations nationwide, but the infrastructure bill passed by Congress in November of 2021 provides for another 500,000. On the near horizon are revenue opportunities for companies and retail outlets to offer charging for customers and be able to charge for it.
Another challenge will be that electricity usage will increase with home charging. Yes Solar Solutions feels uniquely positioned to provide a whole house solution, with solar generating the increased electricity needs and batteries like the Tesla Powerwall storing energy for nighttime use and charging. We have seen the future and it is electric.
