Similar to Disneyland, theme park tickets to Universal Studios depend on how many ‘parks’ you want to include in a day. Universal Studios offers two theme parks and a water park to choose from which includes a large variety of activities sure to make everyone in the family happy. Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure are two separate parks connected by the Hogwarts Express.

Park-to-Park

In order to travel between the parks in a single day, guests must purchase a park-to-park pass. This is a necessity for Harry Potter fans and purchasing a park to park pass offers plenty of flexibility for your park touring needs. Especially recommended if you only have one day to spend in the parks! As our magical Harry Potter fans may have noticed above, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is divided between the two theme parks and connected by the Hogwarts Express! So if your main reason for visiting Universal Orlando is for all things wizard than a 2 park ticket is a must!

If you have a few days to spend and going to various parks in one day isn’t a huge necessity for your family, then one park per day tickets are also available. These tickets are typically cheaper than park-to-park tickets and these savings can add up for large groups and families. On average, one park per day tickets is about $55 less than park-to-park tickets.

Factors to Consider When Buying Your Tickets:

Before purchasing your discount Universal Orlando tickets, here are a few logistical matters to keep in mind:

• Duration of stay? If you only have one day to spend at the parks than getting a two-park ticket is highly recommended so you can see all the wonderful attractions in both parks.
• The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. If Harry Potter is the reason for the visit, then the two park ticket is a must. • Waterpark or not to waterpark? Are waterparks a must see for your family? Then consider allowing an extra day for Volcano Bay. Keep in mind that these tickets are typically sold separately so plan accordingly.
• Small kids or big kids? When deciding which theme park goes on the top of the list, take into consideration the age level of your group. If you have small children than Universal Studios Florida might be your best bet since the majority of rides are catering to those smaller age groups. If your group is mostly adults or big kids than Universal’s Island of Adventure might be the better pick as it includes far more daring roller coasters and attractions.

Cheap Universal Orlando Tickets For Annual Passholders

Annual Passholders can purchase discount Universal Orlando tickets at the gate at a discounted rate for friends and family. The Seasonal Pass rate gets 10% off while the rest of the passes get 15% off.

You have to buy the tickets at the gate- you cannot buy them on the phone or online. Express Passes are excluded from this offer. You can’t get a discount on a one day Volcano Bay pass but you can for a three-park multi day ticket including Volcano Bay.

Military Discount Universal Orlando Tickets

Active duty military personnel and Veterans can enjoy discount tickets directly from Universal Orlando. When you receive your discount at the gate you will only receive $3 off per price of admission but there can be better details when planning in advance. You have two options for securing your tickets in advance:

Option #1

• Visit your local base Military Ticket Office to purchase your tickets. It is recommended that you call them ahead of time to make these arrangements.

Option #2

• Please contact the Military Ticket Program at (901) 874-6891 to locate the nearest Military Ticket office for prices and purchase options. The Military Ticket Program office hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 am –
  4:00 pm Central Time, Closed Weekends and Holidays.

If you do not pre-purchase your tickets before arriving to the park, you are still eligible for a discount. To qualify, you must be Active Duty, Retiree, 100% disabled Veteran, Medal of Honor Recipient, Active Guard/Reserve,  spouse/dependent ID card holder of those categories (or DOD NAF/GS employee, “if applicable”). Present your valid Military or US Government ID at the ticket booth in order to receive your discount. You will receive a $3.00 discount off General Admission tickets and $3.00 off 48″ and below tickets.

These military discounts can be worth it if you call in advance, but I strongly suggest you price out our recommended regular Universal Orlando discount tickets before just sticking with the Universal Orlando military discounts. Often the regular prices from our recommended company can be lower than the official Universal Orlando military discounts.

Universal Orlando also offers a Military Vacation package for active duty military personnel and veterans. This offer starts at $105 per person, per night, based on a family of four and includes:

AAA/CAA Discount Universal Orlando Tickets

All AAA (American Automobile Association) and CAA (Canadian Automobile Association) members can save $4 on a 2-Day/2-Park ticket and $5 off a 3-Day/2-Park tickets at the gate. This is valid for six people per membership card.

Also, members get 10% off many locations at the Universal Studios CityWalk restaurants. There can be deals on Universal Orlando during the off season, however these still rarely compare to the discounts that are exclusively for Mickey Visit subscribers.

Costco Discount Universal Orlando Tickets

Costco often offers Orlando vacation packages and discount ticket options. Check Costco’s Travel website and search for “Universal Orlando” to see if there are any current deals. Costco’s deals change often so it’s always good to keep checking back!

University of Central Florida Discount Tickets

Students, faculty, and staff can receive discount tickets through the website or in the student union. Limit of two tickets per 30 days. Buy in advance because they will run out.

Rewards Programs Discount Universal Orlando Tickets

There are a variety of rewards programs that allow you to redeem points for discount Universal Orlando tickets. If you’re a reward member of any of these programs then it’s worth checking to see if you have enough points to secure some tickets!

• American Express Rewards points can be redeemed for one day adult and one-day child tickets.

Planning a vacation is a big deal and we want to make sure you have every detail covered. Here are a few other things to take into consideration when planning your Universal Orlando trip:

• Park Hours: Check Universal’s website for current park hours. Most often parks open at 9AM and stay open as late as 10PM in the summer months. Volcano Bay typically opens at 10AM. Make sure to check their website here as hours may vary depending on the day of the week and time of year. 
• Parking: Regular parking at Universal Orlando is $22 per car which typically means ‘first come, first serve.’ Get there earlier to get closer parking. Prime parking is $35 per car if you decide that better parking is worth paying extra for. There is also valet parking available for additional fees. Get the details on parking here.
• Seasonal Activities: Like most theme parks, Universal Orlando will offer additional attractions and events for the holidays. Christmas at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is a must see as Universal goes all out decorating the Hogwarts castle. But, keep in mind that holidays draw larger crowds and higher prices. This applies to the summer months as well. So, if you can, then try to visit in the offseason and save money on tickets.  Find more information on seasonal events here.
• Come Prepared: Have a plan in place when you arrive. Decide with your group which park you want to visit first and have a strategy for riding rides. Similar to Disney, early morning hours are prime time for riding the most popular rides. Leave the wandering around Diagon Alley and scenery gazing until the busier afternoon hours.
