Lockdown is easing, which is causing a storm of excitement among those who want to go and visit new places and pack their summers with activities that they couldn’t enjoy last year. There may not yet be overseas travel happening without restrictions, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t fill your summer with plenty of things that will make you happy.
Summer isn’t too far away, so whether you are considering booking into luxury lodges or you plan to book onto a Skydive for fun, you want to make sure that you can make the most of the holiday season. The thing is, you also need to know what you are legally allowed to do around the country, too. Below, we’ve put together a list of the seven ways you can spend your summer.
Remote Cabins…
While we are all required to distance from each other, that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy a break away from the house. You can do better when you book a luxury lodge or a remote cabin, and you don’t even have to leave the country. From luxury lodges in North Cornwall to the remote cabins off the Scottish coast, you can choose rural retreats that allow you to socially distance, still get into nature and enjoy a comfortable time away either alone or with family. You can glamp, camp, cabin or lodge and you don’t have to be overcrowded with anyone else to go for it. You also get to get away from the house you’ve been stuck in for months on end. You should expect a surge in people looking to do the same thing, though, so be mindful of the cost of wherever you choose to go.
Open Air Cinema…
Book some open air cinema days. Wherever you are in the world, summer is known for the time for outdoor cinema. You can book open air cinemas so that you can still enjoy a good movie, but you can do it without being close to other people. Some organisers will ensure that there are COVID-safe measures, with cars having enough distance between them to still enjoy the movie and not worry about being crowded. Stewards can also hand out hand sanitisers and you can make sure that if you leave the car, you mask up. Cinema-goers can go back to enjoying movies that they love of any genre, and you don’t have to be stuck inside a proper cinema screening.
Drive-in concerts…
Did you know that festival and concert organisers are planning to organise drive-in shows? You can enjoy a concert without being squashed against anyone else, and you’ll appreciate the chance to enjoy your favourite shows and musicians without having to stand shoulder to shoulder. It’s a great way to dance in the car in a drive-in rave that gives you space to feel like you are a part of the concert without putting anyone in danger, it’ll also mean no masks in the car!
Car boot sale
Summer sunshine brings out all of the car boot sale wonders, and whether you head to one to be part of the selling process, or you visit one to shop for a bargain, you’ll be in your element. The car boot sale season in 2020 was put on hold because of lockdowns, but you’ll be able to go this summer to your favourite locations and buy whatever gems you can find. Hand sanitiser wil be a must, as will a good social distance. There will be a lot of clutter post-lockdown given all of the online impulse purchasing that happened over the past year, and you’ll be able to enjoy the time you spend out in the sun, too.
Head to the water
So many people will be heading to the English shores this summer to find some space to enjoy the sun, but if you don’t want to worry about social distancing on the beaches, why not get in the water? Kayaking, surfing and paddle boards are all exciting extras to pick up this summer and you won’t spend too much time worrying about wearing a mask and distancing from others as you’ll be outdoors.
Camp
Camping is predicted to be extremely popular this year as more and more people avoid hotels, and it’s a great way to be wild in nature! You can avoid a traditional campsite if you want to, and you can just get down and dirty with the fireflies and rabbits. There’s something so exciting about laying outside to see the stars, so why not try it for yourself?
Festival at home. So, when it comes down to it, you want your summer to go as planned. For that to work, you need to consider the fact that things can change in a second at the moment. Plan a festival at home, too, just in case you can’t go places that you want to go!
