Powerball Millionaire – New Year’s Rockin Eve
The first Powerball millionaire of the year will be announced live on television just after midnight on New Year’s Day 2020, as part of a new promotion with Dick Clark Productions. The millionaire will be selected from a group of second-chance prize winners from across the U.S., who will all be given a luxury three-night stay in New York City and attend the Rockin’ Eve party in Times Square.
Could you be the first Powerball Millionaire of 2020?
First Powerball Millionaire of the Year
More than half of the participating Powerball jurisdictions have signed up to be a part of the New Year’s Eve promotion. South Dakota became the first state to launch the offer, with Wisconsin and New Mexico set to follow at the start of May. The rest of the states will roll out their own versions of the promotion over the coming months.
In alphabetical order, the full list of 24 participating states is as follows: Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin.
Powerball will continue to offer big jackpots twice a week, as well as eight other ways to win in every drawing. Head over to the Winners page to see some of the biggest winners in Powerball’s history, and to see how many jackpots have been won in your state. Don’t forget, even if you don’t pick up a prize in upcoming Powerball draws, you have a second chance to become a millionaire and make history as the first big winner of 2020!
Powerball Rockin’ Eve
More than 300 lucky players from 24 participating jurisdictions are set to win VIP trips to the Big Apple for New Year. The package includes accommodation in Times Square from December 29 to January 1 for each winner and a guest, along with a welcome reception at the Edison Ballroom, two theater tickets, a holiday cruise on the Hudson and much more.
The holiday will culminate with the ultimate New Year’s Eve experience. Broadcast live during Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest, one of the players in attendance will be selected at random to receive $1 million in the ‘Powerball Rockin’ Eve’ draw. This prize will be paid as a lump sum and there is not an option for an annuity.
Speaking about the promotion, Powerball Product Group Chairman and New Mexico Lottery CEO David Barden said: “This new partnership brings together Powerball, a premier brand in the lottery industry, with New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, a powerhouse entertainment brand. As we showcase Powerball on a new national stage, we are continuing Powerball’s 27-year legacy of creating millionaires while raising funds for good causes supported by lotteries.”
The number of winners from each state and the exact terms of entry will vary by jurisdiction, but to be in with a chance of winning a trip to New York you must take part in one of the ‘First Powerball Millionaire of the Year’ second-chance drawings in your state.
A second-chance drawing is where you enter losing lottery tickets into a new draw for another shot at winning. So if you are a regular Powerball player and take part within the dates set out by your state lottery, you just need to submit a valid ticket. There are different ways to do this depending on where you play, but it is most likely that you will have to register for an account with your state lottery and then just enter your ticket number.
