It’s challenging to find NetSuite training options especially when you don’t want to spend thousands of dollars on simple online courses that might be completely out of date. Software changes fast and NetSuite is not anything different there which means it is hard to keep up with the constantly changing software.
There are really two options for training, either online courses or a training consultant that will teach you remotely or in person.
Online courses are great, but you may have noticed it is insanely difficult to find any NetSuite training material worthy of purchasing. You have the option to purchase a course directly from NetSuite and can expect to pay between $2000 – $5000 per course. They define how long a course will take and multiply that by $800 to get the total cost of the course. However, it is fairly subjective to determine the length of a particular course and is likely to differ for every person. One of my colleagues ended up taking one of the courses that had a time frame of 4 days and it took less than 1 day. For a new person never seeing NetSuite before or not familiar with computers, you can expect to take closer to the time frame.
Another online option is this free NetSuite beginner online course which outlines the major pieces the typical user will see. The table of contents for the free NetSuite material is shown below.
1. NetSuite Overview
2. Suite Bundler Installations
3. Saved Search
4. CSV Upload
5. Email Template
6. Advanced PDF
7. Entry Forms
8. Roles and Permissions
9. Company Info | Enable Features
10. Dashboards
11. Personalize Settings
12. Suite Answers | Help
You can see here that it covers a decent amount of information needed for a beginner course.
There are other paid options that range from $100-$800 and take between 1 Day to 4 weeks to complete. These courses are listed below.
2. NetSuite Administrator Training
3. SuiteCommerce Administrator Training
4. Site Management Tools Training
5. SuiteScript Developer NetSuite Training
6. NetSuite SuiteCommerce Developer Training
The online courses tend to be longer for developer material because of the lengthy assignments. Each of the courses provide assignments and solution material to help in the self paced NetSuite course.
There are other NetSuite training options other than online courses. Many companies provide on site training including this one. Most companies in the small to mid-market size opt-out of this type of training because it can quickly become expensive. Generally, training in this field comes from NetSuite partners that have resources coming onsite. Whenever a resource comes onsite, it is common for partners to charge time and materials. When all costs are considered including flights, hotel, travel expenses, and actual training time, it is far more expensive to go this route. With larger companies, this is a better option because the impact for trained employees far out weighs the cost for a training consultant to come onsite. You can always look for consulting companies in your area that are partnered with NetSuite. Here is a list of the NetSuite CAP partners across the world including NetSuite partners in North America.
It can be a frustrating journey getting all your employees up to speed and fully utilize your NetSuite ERP system. Good luck on your search for the best training options!
