First introduced to the public in 1988 when Michael Jordan won the Slam Dunk contest at the NBA All-Star Game in a pair of White-Cement Grey’s, the Air Jordan 3 has been one of the most popular models for the brand.
These were the shoes that saved the Air Jordan brand when Jordan was rumored to leave Nike upon contract renewal. It took the iconic sneaker designer, Tinker Hatfield, to salvage the relationship with a prototype that showcased supple materials, an elephant print accent and the infamous Jumpman logo. This striking, sophisticated design immediately won Jordan over and the rest is history.
Releasing this October 30, the Air Jordan 3 Pine Green colorway features the signature elephant print with Pine Green accents on the midsole, heel loop, collar, eyelets and the Jumpman logo. Paying homage to the popular Black Cement colorway, Jet black nubuck rounds out the upper and heel tab with coordinating laces. True to this mid-height silhouette, it fits true to size. Fans of the 3’s agree, these are known for comfort meant for all-day wear.
Air Jordan 1’s and 4’s may have dominated the hype in the past few years; but Nike has been setting the stage for a comeback for the third iteration in the brand with a revival of the old favorite — Cool Grey — followed by the presumed Sneaker of the Year in a collaboration with A Ma Maniére. Withstanding the ebb and flow of ‘hype,’ Air Jordan 3’s have maintained its stronghold as the classy meets comfort sneaker that charmed Jordan.
