How do you know the will of God?
Step one, once you accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, you are no longer of this world.
Romans 12:2, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Yet, is it possible for man or woman to know the will of the Almighty God?
Yes!
Read on because you will learn the 8 ways to know the will of God for your life.
1- Jesus First To Know The Will Of God
Understand that this is all for Him. You were created by Him and for Him.
Moreover, He is over all things, heaven and earth as decreed by Father God Almighty.
Most have heard about and read the Bible Verse in the Gospel of John.
John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Move to a quiet space and ponder the magnitude of this piece of scripture and what it means.
All that matters is Christ.
More than my wife, my kids, my parents?
Yes.
Because He died for each of them as well, so that those you love would know the gift of Salvation as well!
You must make a conscious effort each day to put God first before anything else you do.
To know the will of God for your life, you must first know His One and Only Son, Jesus Christ.
Moreover, you must put Christ first above all!
God first because He created You.
Because He Loves You more and has done more for you than any person ever could.
He sacrificed His life in place of yours on the cross, so that you could live with Him forever!
2- Complete Surrender
To know God’s Will for your life, you must surrender your life to Him.
Jesus explains this more in Luke 14:25-27, “Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.”
Here Jesus is preparing us for the time when division will exist within our own families.
Father may believe, yet mother may not. Brother may believe but sister may not and vice versa. Son may believe, yet father may not. Mother may believe, yet daughter may not.
Complete surrender requires sacrifice.
Surrender means everything.
Worries, doubts, fears, wants, control, finances, relationships, the future.
Let go and Let God.
Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
You must surrender to God’s will before He will reveal His will for your life.
Remember Romans 12; you are no longer of this world.
Conform to God and He will tell you great and unsearchable things!
And as a result of being one of God’s children, you must surrender the old you, because you are born anew in Christ.
3- Consistent With God’s Word
The Bible’s answer for God’s Will for your life is found in Revelation 4:11.
“Our Lord and God, you are worthy to receive glory and honor and power, because you have created all things, and by your will they exist and were created.”
All of creation exists to glorify God Almighty and Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Because without Jesus Christ, none of us exist.
God’s Lifebook for Success, The Holy Bible gives us clear instruction on how to act, how to live and how to love.
Anything in opposition to God’s Word is not in line with God’s Will for your life.
To Understand and know the Will of God, you must know and obey God’s Word.
4-All Things Maturity to Know The Will Of God
Hebrews 5:12-14, “For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.”
To understand and know the will of God for your life, you must be off of milk and onto solid food.
You must meditate on God’s Word every day.
Moreover, surround yourselves with other followers of Christ.
You must eliminate worldly things from your life.
1 John 2:15-17, “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.”
For when you leave the world behind and meditate on God’s Word, your powers of discernment will grow.
5-No Harm To Anyone
Will this action or deed harm my neighbor?
Romans 13:9, “For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Love your neighbor as you want to be loved.
Because, this is the will of God!
6-All Good Things At The Right Time
All things happen in God’s good timing.
Yet for many of us, waiting sometimes is the hardest part.
Do not make the mistake of trying to outrun God. You won’t win. I speak from past experience.
Moreover, take heart in knowing that God always fulfills His promises!
2 Peter 3:8-9, “But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”
Wait on the Lord and trust that He will answer you in His good timing.
Because He does all things for His good purposes!
7-Walk Your Talk to Know The Will Of God
Proverbs 12:19-23, “Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue is but for a moment. Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, but those who plan peace have joy. No ill befalls the righteous, but the wicked are filled with trouble. Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight. A prudent man conceals knowledge, but the heart of fools proclaims folly.”
Moreover, be true to yourself and to others.
Truth in all you say, what you do and how you do it and you will know the will of God!
Walk your talk always.
8-Glory To God
