Are you looking for the perfect wedding venue, but having trouble coming across the right place? Do you find yourself overwhelmed by all the choices in front of you?
It’s all about finding a place that will accommodate your needs and has a great track record with others. We have created an in-depth guide you can use to find the best wedding venue with all the right attributes.
1. Reputation, Reputation, Reputation
We’ve all heard of the nightmare weddings. Someone booked a wedding venue, then had their big day ruined by terrible service or staff that didn’t take the day seriously enough.
But here’s where those people went wrong: they didn’t do enough homework on the wedding venue before they booked it. Far too many people fall in love with the aesthetic or prestige around the venue, and thus book it without looking into any other factors.
All you have to do to ensure your big day lives up to the hype is look into the reputation that the wedding venue has with its previous clients. Simply read online reviews on the venue and ask yourself some of these questions:
- Do the previous clients seem satisfied with the service that they received?
- How was the communication with the venue leading up to the big day?
- What did the setup look like for the ceremony at that venue?
- Does the venue offer different packages? If so, which one would they recommend?
- Do they have an area designated for a seated reception?
- Were there any unwelcome surprises on the day of the wedding?
All of these questions are important to consider. You can have more confidence in the venue you book by taking a bit of time to research their reputation.
2. Privacy for Your Wedding
Trust us, you don’t want your entire wedding to be out in the open where everyone can see the details.
That’s how wedding crashers occur. Unfortunately, wedding crashers are very real and have been known to ruin someone’s big day.
We totally understand wanting all eyes to be on you during your big day, but you also want the ceremony and reception to be intimate. You invited all your guests for a reason, let their eyes be the only ones that witness the day of bliss.
When you initially reach out to potential wedding venues, be sure to ask them about two things:
- First, how will the location of the wedding venue be able to help you have a private and intimate ceremony with your wedding party and guests?
- Second, what will the staff do to ensure your wedding is as private and secure as possible? Does the staff have any experience on that front?
That’s why so many people are having their ceremonies and receptions at golf courses. The entire course staff is used to holding private events, holding strict guest lists, and so on.
At Diamond Hawk, we promise to help you have a perfect wedding day that you’ll never forget!
3. Tour the Space
Booking a venue without going on a tour is asking for catastrophe. If your first exposure to the event space is on the big day, you risk it not living up to your expectations.
Some wedding venues will talk a big game, but not be able to back it up. Make sure you walk through the venue and look at the space in person.
You might even ask if you can tour while another wedding is going on. If there aren’t any weddings when you want to take a tour, perhaps there’s a golf tournament?
Seeing one of the two will give you a better idea of how efficient and thorough the golf course is with running larger events.
4. Consider the Space
Even if you’re early on in the wedding planning process, you probably have an idea of how many people you want to have at your wedding.
For that reason, you need to do your best impression of Goldilocks and find a venue that’s just right for the size of your wedding.
Too large, and your wedding will have an awkward amount of empty space. Too small, and everyone will feel uncomfortable sitting elbow to elbow.
You can ask the event planner how much the room/space typically seats. Let that be your guide.
5. Bring Your Family
When walking the space for your wedding, it’s easy to get wrapped up in the fantasy behind the venue you’re looking at.
That’s why it’s always helpful to have a second opinion. Make sure to bring your maid of honor and best man to the venues as you tour them.
If those two aren’t available, bring your family along. They can be the voice of reason, ensuring that you’re making a practical decision for your wedding, and not sacrificing a lot of needs/wants to book it.
