4 Things to Check out in Breckenridge, Co (And Where to Stay)

Most people, when they think of Breckenridge, picture world-class skiing and a vibrant winter haven. But Breckenridge’s best-kept secret is that it’s just as amazing in the summer. With amazing outdoor sports opportunities and mountain vistas only Colorado can provide, you can’t go wrong with a summer vacation in Breckenridge. Here are some of our favorite things to do:

  1. Mountain biking – Everybody knows that Breckenridge Ski Resort is a great spot to hit the slopes in a pair of skis, but you may not know that you can take your mountain bike up the mountain with the ski-lift for some killer downhill runs. There are also some great longer trails around, including the Colorado Trail, which you can access right out the back door of LOGE Breckenridge.

  2. Fly Fishing – For those looking for something a little less fast-paced, take an easy day fly fishing on the Blue River. The Blue River is one of the easiest to access tributaries of the Colorado River, and provides a right-sized mountain stream feel with great views and a trout population that replenishes well year-to-year. If you’re new to fly-fishing, there are a wide variety of guiding services in Breckenridge that can help you get out fishing on the river and catching your dinner in no time.

  3. Hike Four 14ers in one loop – There are few places in the world with a greater density of 14ers (peaks above 14,000 ft) than Colorado, and Breckenridge boasts four within easy distance: Mt. Democrat, Mt. Lincoln, Mt. Bross, and Mt. Cameron. Take a day and hike one of them, or link them up in the Decalibron Loop, a 7.6 mile trail that allows you to summit all four peaks.

  4. Enjoy Downtown Breckenridge – With all the amazing outdoor adventures to be had, it’s easy to forget that the city of Breckenridge is a pretty great place to spend some time. Take a rest day and explore some of the restaurants, breweries, distilleries, and events that Breckenridge has to offer. Grab dinner on the rooftop deck at Modis, and end the day with some live music at the Dillon Amphitheater or at the Riverwalk Center.

  5. Where To Stay – A hotel that’s an adventure itself – Lodging in Breckenridge can be a little tricky, especially on a budget. With so many condos and resorts, reasonably priced hotels in Breckenridge can be hard to come by. If you’re looking for a spot geared toward outdoor-lovers, take a look at LOGE Breckenridge. Billing itself as the hotel that gets you outdoors, LOGE Breckenridge gives guests unique amenities, like a hammock in the room, gear rental centers to make sure you’re properly equipped for your adventures, and free live music starting up soon for those late summer weekends. All at an affordable price perfect for squeezing an extra day of vacation out of your budget.

If you’re looking for a great place to enjoy Colorado in the summer, there’s nowhere with more opportunities for fun and adventure than Breckenridge.
