The Hilton New Orleans Riverside is one of our favorite hotels on this list for cruise travelers. Why, you ask? While most hotels charge extra to book a cruise package, this hotel gives you a 20% discount on your room, and only charges you $13 per night for parking (normally $44).
You can also enjoy free Wi-Fi, which they normally charge guests $10 per day for, and access to all of the amenities they offer.
The only thing not included in the “Hilton Cruisin’” package is transportation to the cruise port. But since the hotel is less than half a mile from the terminal, walking to the port should be a breeze.

They also have a great cruise package that gives you a mega discount on their parking rates. Normally $39 per night, with the cruise package you’ll only pay $14 per night. And they also have a complimentary shuttle that’ll take you to the port, and pick you up upon your return.

The Hilton Garden Inn New Orleans Convention Center has a unique cruise package called the Port of New Orleans Hotel Deal. If you book your stay with them using the cruise package, you’ll get a complimentary ride to the port, as well as a $25 credit for any food or beverage available at the hotel.

The Holiday Inn Downtown Superdome is a gorgeous hotel just a mile from the port, and within walking distance of many attractions and activities that downtown New Orleans has to offer. If you’ve never had the chance to stay in a luxury hotel, now is your chance to splurge a little. And even then, their rates are pretty reasonable compared to some.
Book your stay with their Park & Cruise package and you’ll be able to park your car there for 8 nights (the night of your stay, and then 7 nights for your cruise) for free. Additional nights will cost $10 per night.
The hotel does not offer a shuttle to the port, but they’ll be happy to arrange a taxi for you, which should cost no more than $10.

Where is the best location to stay in New Orleans?
Honestly, the best location to stay in New Orleans is right in the heart of the city. This way you’ll be close to the cruise port and be able to visit as much of New Orleans as you want. If you’d rather not be right in the city, Metairie is also a great choice and only a few miles away.
Of the list above, our favorite hotel to stay in for cruises is the first one on the list, the New Orleans Riverside. It’s walking distance from the port; you get a steep discount on parking and on your room cost.
Is parking free in New Orleans?
No, there is no truly free parking available in New Orleans. Even if you book a Park & Cruise package from a hotel, and the details of the package includes “free” parking, it’s still not completely free. It’s very likely that the package costs more than their standard rate, so in a way you’re still paying to park your car there.
Therefore, when it comes to finding a great hotel to stay in, we tend to prefer the ones that offer a discount on their normal parking rates, rather than hiking up the price of their cruise package.
How much is it to park at the New Orleans cruise port?
To park at the New Orleans Cruise Port it costs between $20-$22 per day. More if you have an oversized vehicle like a bus or an RV. If you are using the Erato Street Cruise Terminal, you’ll park in the garage on top of the terminal. For the Julia Street Cruise Terminal the parking lot is just off to the side from the terminal.
