Upon first unboxing, the Mavic 3E comes in a familiar hard case like the Mavic 2 Enterprise series. Since the Mavic 3E is designed for surveying and mapping, it technically replaces the Phantom 4 RTK in DJI’s lineup. Compared to the P4 RTK, the Mavic 3E is significantly more compact thanks to the foldable design. This made carrying the Mavic 3E to our test site a lot easier than any of the bulkier systems. The overall build quality of the unit feels very sturdy and it feels like a very well put together system. In our testing, as compared to the previous mapping drone, the Phantom 4 RTK, the DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise provided a significantly better workflow, thanks to the redesigned DJI Pilot 2 app, which provides more options for mission planning like Oblique capture which worked really well for 3D modelling. The DJI RC Pro Enterprise runs a more streamlined version of Android OS. It has enough processing power to keep the interface lag-free throughout our testing unlike the P4 RTK remote controller, which would often struggle to keep up with operations. During testing on a calm day, we found the battery would last around 38 to 40 minutes with minimal wind. As far as the camera goes, even though the resolution is the same as the P4RTK, the image sensor on the Mavic 3E yields a lot better imagery thanks to the larger 4/3 sensor and revised optics. For processing the imagery, we used DJI Terra which provided a surprisingly smooth and cohesive experience which is now expected when using DJI Ecosystem products.

The Mavic 3T replaces the DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced in the lineup and comes with significant advantages over the predecessor. In our testing, we found that the battery life is a lot longer than the Mavic 2 EA. Thermal camera performance was similar to the Enterprise Advanced. The Mavic 3 series with their omnidirectional obstacle avoidance system provides better protection than the predecessor. Overall the Mavic 3 series drones fly smoother and more precisely than the previous generation. Moreover, the additional telephoto lens with 56x hybrid zoom is a welcome addition. The Mavic 3T also benefits from the upgraded controller, faster Android system and the DJI Pilot 2 app optimizations. It builds upon the tried and tested compact thermal drone platform that the Mavic 2 Enterprise series pioneered.

Since the Mavic 3M replaces the DJI P4 Multispectral, which is now considerably dated, we see changes that improve the overall user experience by leaps and bounds. The Mavic 3M also uses the DJI RC Pro Enterprise which brings the operating system to the current generation. With DJI Pilot 2, mission planning and data collection was a breeze. The DJI SmartFarm Platform makes processing data and generating results a breeze for seasoned agricultural pilots as well as newcomers to the field. The compact foldable drone fits nicely in the hard carrying case even with the propellers and RTK Module installed. With RTK enabled, we can achieve centimeter level accuracy in the collected data.

Overall, the DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise series streamlines processes, provides more consistent, reliable performance and ease of use like never before.
