Best Gaming Keyboard for Typing
When it comes to keyboards, it’s important to distinguish between those specifically designed for gaming and those optimized for typing. While gaming keyboards are primarily tailored to enhance the gaming experience, they may not necessarily provide the same level of comfort and efficiency regarding typing tasks. However, it is essential to note that this does not imply that they are inept at typing.
Typically, mechanical keyboards tend to maintain a satisfactory level of performance, surpassing that of their non-mechanical counterparts. However, it is essential to note that their primary emphasis lies in catering to the gaming community, placing a higher priority on aspects such as vibrant RGB lighting effects rather than the tactile sensation and auditory feedback.
The remarkable ROG Azoth is a cutting-edge gasket mount mechanical keyboard boasting a sleek 75 percent form factor. The device boasts a seamless wireless experience, offering the convenience of both 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth connectivity. Its remarkable design includes double-shot PBT keycaps, ensuring durability and a satisfying tactile feel.

The G915 Lightspeed has garnered significant acclaim and widespread recognition, albeit at a substantial cost. Unfortunately, this keyboard lacks key features that many users may find essential. Firstly, it is not equipped with a wrist rest, which can be a significant drawback for those seeking ergonomic support during extended typing sessions.
Additionally, the absence of a USB passthrough means that users will not have the convenience of easily connecting other devices directly to their keyboard. 5. Patriot Viper V765
Best Budget Keyboard
Patriot Viper V765 has earned a notable reputation in the tech industry, primarily for its exceptional RAM and storage solutions. However, the Viper V765 peripheral is a remarkable addition to their product lineup. Boasting an unparalleled tactile experience, this keyboard offers a level of key feel that is truly unmatched.
Moreover, it comes in an aesthetically pleasing design that is both alluring and reasonably priced. The Patriot Viper V765, despite the passage of time, continues to stand as a commendable choice for budget-conscious consumers seeking a keyboard that offers an abundance of features and capabilities. This particular keyboard stands out from the rest due to its inclusion of the highly sought-after Kailh Box White switches.
These switches offer a faster actuation time than the more common Blue or Green switches, thanks to their slightly reduced travel distance of 3.6mm, as opposed to the standard 4mm. The keys on this particular device have been meticulously designed and rigorously to offer an unparalleled level of responsiveness. We dare say that they are among the most responsive keys available in the market today. Not only do they provide a seamless typing experience, but they also emit a delightful click sound that is sure to please even the most discerning users. It is safe to say that you would be hard-pressed to find more satisfying auditory feedback from any other keyboard out there.
With the inclusion of Kailh Box White switches, the Viper V765 effortlessly showcases its undeniable appeal. However, this exceptional gaming keyboard has many other remarkable features that further solidify its worthiness of consideration. The full-sized keyboard boasts a sleek and modern design, featuring an exquisite aluminum surface adorned with elegantly tapered edges.
This carefully crafted aesthetic lends a touch of futurism, making it a visually captivating addition to any workspace. Experience a mesmerizing display of vibrant RGB keys that will leave you in awe. 6. Razer Huntsman V2 Gaming Keyboard
There is very little latency on the Razer Huntsman V2, which makes it a great game keyboard. It feels very responsive because the Razer Linear Optical switches on our unit have a very short pre-travel distance and a light working force.
You can use the Synapse 3 program or the board to assign macros to any key. The RGB backlighting can be changed, there are two incline sets, and the wrist rest is made of soft leatherette. It feels very well put together, but some of the bigger keys wobble and sound and feel different from the smaller ones.
Keyboards like the Razer Huntsman V2 don’t come along very often, and when they do, they leave such a great impact that all other keyboards seem inferior. I’ve been loving its optical switches and other great features (there are many) that I almost forgot that
The Razer Huntsman V2 is the best game keyboard I’ve ever used. I’ve been using the full-size model with the number pad and media keys for almost a year. But it’s important to note that you can get it in both tenkeyless and 60% form factors. I can’t say for sure how good those versions are, but I think most of what I say here will apply to them.

- Special Feature: Ergonomic, Wrist Rest, Hotkeys and Media Keys
- Color: Classic Black, PUBG Edition, ESL Edition, Quartz Pink

- Style: Huntsman V2
Reasons To Buy
+ Keycaps that feel good
+ 8,000Hz rate of polling
+ Soft wrist rest
Reasons To Avoid
– Quite pricey
– There is no USB passthrough.
– There are no script keys.
7. Razer Ornata V3 X Gaming Keyboard
The Razer Ornata V3 X is a great keyboard for gamers. With its low profile, wrist rest, and angle settings, it’s easy to use, and the software that comes with it lets you program all of its keys to do different things at once. It does feel a little cheap, though, and the membrane switches have a long pre-travel distance that makes them less responsive for games. Its latency is also best for casual games; it doesn’t feel responsive enough for professional games.
The Razer Ornata v3 is the latest addition to Razer’s Ornata line. These days, they’ve come out with two versions: the v3 has the Mecha-Membrane switches and the v3 X has quiet membrane switches and is cheaper. There is a $30 price gap between the two, and the v3 X leaves out some features. There is only one zone of lights on the v3 X, and it doesn’t have any media keys. You don’t have to give up the quiet membrane switches; it just depends on your taste.
It seems like Razer already has a keyboard line called Cynosa and this one is pretty much the same. The Cynosa boards are taller than the Ornata v3 X boards, which is the only real change between them. We’ll see how this stacks up against the Cynosa Lite and Cynosa v2.
I like lower profile keyboards because they are easier on the hands, so it was no surprise that I liked typing and playing games on the Ornata v3 X. Instead of being round like the OEM or Cherry design, all of the keycaps are the same height and shape. Razer’s membrane switches are one of the best I’ve used, and I was surprised by how tactile they felt. It doesn’t have that heavy, mushy feel that you’d expect from a membrane keyboard.
Razer does a great job with looks, so it’s no surprise that the Ornata v3 X looks good. With accents going around the frame and keys, the chassis is very simple but beautiful. The Razer logo that is etched looks classy and understated. I’ve said this before in other Razer reviews: I love the font style they use on the keycaps; it looks very classy and official. The v3 X only has one zone of lights, but it’s full RGB, so the colors look bright and vivid.

8. ASUS ROG Strix Scope
The ASUS ROG Strix Scope II 96 Wireless is a small keyboard (96% of its size) that is part of ASUS’s ROG Strix Scope line. With the ROG Omni USB receiver that comes with this keyboard, you can connect it remotely to up to three devices at once. The keyboard’s RGB backlighting and other settings can also be changed with the included software, as well as a customizable multi-function button and scroll wheel.
You can get this keyboard with either linear or clicky ROG NX mechanical switches. It also has a hot-swappable PCB, so you can swap out the stock switches for any other switches you want. Sound-dampening switch pads and silicon foam inside the case help keep the typing noise low. The keycaps are made of durable PBT plastic as well.
I don’t just say that; I’ve also been using Corsair’s newest product, the K70 Max, and the Strix Scope II 96 is better. The SteelSeries Apex Pro TKL is the same. The Corsair and SteelSeries boards both have magnetic switches that can be adjusted, but the Scope II does not. However, the ROG’s oiled switches provide the best typing and game experience.
Yes, I oiled the buttons. This is great that it has moved from expert boards to more general ones. Not many PC gamers will have taken the time to remove each key switch and lube it to make it thwomp good. With the Scope II 96, you don’t have to worry about the messy details because the switches are already oiled when they leave the factory.

- Keyboard Description: Gaming
- Recommended Uses For Product: Gaming
- Special Feature: Water Resistant
- Color: Black
- Number of Keys: 104
- Keyboard backlighting color support: RGB
- Style: Strix Scope RX Blue
Reasons To Buy
+ Very good switch feel
+ How to block out noise
+ Easily switchable on the fly
+ PBT key knobs
+ Multimedia control wheel that can be adjusted to Small size
Reasons To Avoid
– The Armoury Crate app is a mess.
9. Redragon K582 SURARA
The Redragon K582 SURARA is a cheap mechanical keyboard for gamers. It’s a simple, full-size model with RGB lights that can be changed, and all of its keys can be programmed to do different things. It comes with tactile Redragon Brown, linear Red, and clicky Blue switches. You can also change the stock switches to any other ones you like because they are hot-swappable.
Unfortunately, it has a lot of latency for a gaming keyboard. If you play fast-paced games professionally, you might want to look for something more responsive. It also doesn’t have some extra features that other game boards do, like a USB passthrough or macro or media keys that are only used for that purpose.
I’m pleased to say that the board feels very solid. There is a thick plastic around the board that doesn’t feel “bendy” when you press keys against it. There is a fair amount of weight to it, which works well with the “standing legs” on the back of the board because it presses them against the table. I thought that because there aren’t many rubber feet on the back of the board, the keyboard would move around while I played CS: GO when I bought it, but after 24 hours of gaming on it, it never moved.
The keycaps are “alright.” They don’t stand out, but they do the job, and I like how the letters are see-through so the LED lights can shine through. It looks like the keycaps are a little weak when I take them off, but I don’t feel that way when I’m sitting on the red switches. But if I put my finger on the top of the keycaps, I can slightly move them in any direction, hitting other keys in the process. It’s not as sturdy as I had hoped, so I’m taking away a point.
Specifications
- Brand: Redragon
- Compatible Devices: Laptop, PC, Gaming Console
- Connectivity Technology: USB
- Keyboard Description: Gaming
- Recommended Uses For Product: Gaming
- Special Feature: Ergonomic, Backlit
- Color: Red Switch
- Number of Keys: 104
- Keyboard backlighting color support: RGB
- Style: Modern
Reasons To Buy
+ Can be swapped out quickly.
+ RGB lights that can be changed.
+ All of the keys can be set to a macro.
Reasons To Avoid
– A lot of delay.
– There is no wrist rest.
10. CORSAIR K70 CORE RGB
The Corsair K70 Core RGB Mechanical Keyboard is a great example of how to trade off features for price. The K70 doesn’t have as many features as some cheap mechanical game keyboards, but it does have good basic features. It’s about the same price as a middle model, so it has a few nice features, like a magnetic wrist rest that can be taken off, keycaps that shine through, and sound dampening inside the keyboard.
Knowing what you want in a mechanical gaming keyboard is important, and the K70 Core should be on your list. However, the Razer Ornata V2 is still our top pick for the best cheap gaming keyboard.
Corsair’s K70 Max RGB keyboard has been a big deal in the world of game keyboards for the past year. It has magnetic switches that can be customized and pretty good soundproofing. The dual-actuation magnetic switches on the K70 Max RGB are unique, though, and we haven’t found many real-world uses for them. Also, the board is pricey.
The K70 Core RGB, Corsair’s newest board, is a full-size gaming keyboard that is easier to get to and may be one of the best gaming keyboards out there. With two layers of EVA foam, it keeps the K70 Max RGB’s great sound isolation and lack of case ping. However, it replaces the magnetic switches that can be customized with pre-oiled Corsair Red (linear) switches. All black or “steel gray,” it has a metal top plate and double-shot ABS keycaps. It has per-key RGB, onboard storage that can hold up to five settings, and a rotary dial that can be changed to fit your needs.
Specifications
- Brand: Corsair
- Compatible Devices: Laptop, Gaming Console, PC

- Recommended Uses For Product: Gaming
- Special Feature: Volume Roller, Backlit, Hotkeys and Media Keys
- Color: Black
- Number of Keys: 104
- Keyboard backlighting color support: RGB
- Style: Modern
Reasons To Buy
+ A reasonable cost for an RGB mechanical board for each key
+ Buttons that are already oiled
+ A wrist rest with magnets
+ A layer of internal foam dampening
+ RGB lighting patterns that look good
Reasons To Avoid
– USB wire that can’t be removed
– Less noise could be made.
– There aren’t any macro keys
